Cartwheels for Cancer
Last Sunday Anna and I went to Cartwheels for Cancer. It was a local event hosted by the Brewster Girls' Gymnastics team. All the proceeds went to fund research for Breast Cancer. Anna had an awesome time on the equipment and made several new friends. She came home saying she wants to take gymnastics now....but I think we'll stick with ballet.

Birthday Highlights
Ron's family visited this weekend and everyone went bowling during Sawyer's nap time. It was Anna's first time and she did a great job. I just LOVE this picture that Ron took.
Did you hear Sawyer turned one-year old last week? No more babies here! We're a big boy! Toddlerhood here we come!
Go ahead, you know you want to kiss me.
Did someone say I get to eat a cupcake???
If Mommy is not looking, maybe I'll sneak another one!

Dear Sawyer,
It was one year ago today that you filled our hearts with joy. Mommy and Daddy went to bed just as the snowflakes started falling and almost immediately you began making your entry into the world. I squeezed Daddy's hand every 15 minutes all night long....that is until Anna called from her room "Mommy, Daddy, come quick! I lost my first tooth!" -at 4:00 in the morning. Daylight showed us 14 inches of snow had fallen and we wondered when we should leave for the hospital Grandpa didn't believe us when we called him to say you were on your way....neither did Uncle Ricky. We slowly made our way to the hospital in Nona's jeep, the only ones on the road. The nurses didn't believe I was in labor either....something about me being too friendly and calm. The doctor said I was in fact in labor and you would arrive by the end of the day. You did, our love. At 6:40 pm we welcomed you into the world. Your big sister Anna was the first to hear. We shared the news with all of your family and everyone was overjoyed! You found your way into our hearts the moment we laid eyes on you. Happy 1st Birthday Sweet Boy!

Anna the Carrier
Two weeks ago (right after Christmas) I came down with Strep Throat. Anna had it previously and since we share everything, she decided to share her germs with me too. Anway, I finished my antibiotics and felt 100 percent. On Monday night though I woke up to another severe sore throat. It still hadn't gone away this morning so Sawyer and I trekked back to the doctors office for another throat culture. The doctor put me back on meds and said she'll call tomorrow with the results. She asked me how Anna was feeling and I said fine. She said that if my culture comes back positive tomorrow, she wants me to have a throat culture done on Anna. Turns out she could be a "carrier" and is reinfecting me. I told you we share everything!

Did I mention that Anna woke us up at 3:48am on Christmas morning to open gifts? We told her it was WAY too early and as I began to escort her back to bed, Ron motioned to me to let her get in bed with us, something I'm pleased to say has NEVER happened before! Well, she eagerly got in bed with us but was much too excited to sleep so needless to say we all lay there unable to fall back asleep. After the day's excitement of opening gifts and seeing relatives, she got into bed to read as she usually did while I nursed Sawyer and got him settled into bed. This was how we found her.

As promised, here are a few more pictures from Christmas 2011. Sawyer wore his Grandpa's matching sweater and hat for Christmas Day. His grandpa wore this when he was a little guy too!
Santa brought us The Polar Express Christmas Eve. He had a tough time getting it under the tree...in fact he had to move around rugs and furniture to make it fit! It finally ended up in the dining room for the rest of Christmas week. Sawyer and Daddy enjoyed some male bonding while watching it go round and round. Anna has enjoyed using it too!
We also took a hike Christmas week during a balmy 55 degree day! We visited the old Leatherman's Cave and then went up to Lookout Point. We are looking foward to warmer weather so we can do this more often!
